The nearest town is Beiuş, around 10 kilometers to the south.

The commune has a population of 3513 inhabitants.

According to the 2002 Census the population structure is:

• Hungarians 16.52%
• Gypsies 2.79 %
• Others 0.11 %

The percentage of Hungarians is higher in the center of the commune (Village of Remetea).
